It’s Friday, and despite the country being on one form of motion control order (MCO) or another, the usual weekly fuel price update continues. Fuel prices are going to go up next week, but the consolation is that most people will stay or not drive very far.

The finance ministry has announced that for the week of January 16-22, the price of gasoline of 95 RON 4 million euros will be increased by five sen from RM1.84 per liter to RM1.89 per liter. Consequently, Euro 4M RON 97 also sees a five sen increase to RM2.19 from RM2.14 per liter this week.

Meanwhile, the Euro 2M diesel will be priced at RM 2.02 per liter, three lanes more than the current RM 2.02 per liter. This means that Euro 5 diesel, which costs 10 sen more per liter, also sees an increase of three sen, rising to RM2.15 from RM2.12 that is now.

These prices will remain in effect from midnight tonight until next Friday, January 22, when the next round of fuel price updates will be announced. This is the third edition of this year’s weekly fuel pricing format and the 106th in total since its introduction in early 2019.
