GEORGE TOWN (Bernama): Former Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was present at the Northeast District Police Headquarters here to give his statement on the comments he made in 2019.

Lim said he was asked to give his statement on two press releases he made in 2019 to Bukit Aman police officers, although it was during the motion control order.

The DAP secretary general questioned why he was called to give his statement during the MCO.

Accompanied by lawyers RSN Rayer and Ramkarpal Singh, he arrived at the police headquarters around 2.30pm on Thursday (January 14) and left almost two hours later.

Lim, who was Penang’s chief minister, should have given his statement on the investigation on December 24. However, it was canceled after arguing that the moment was only one day before Christmas.

Earlier, Northeast Police Chief ACP Soffian Santong, when contacted, confirmed that Lim was present but declined to elaborate.

“Yes, he was present (to give a statement) … the investigation was carried out by a team from Bukit Aman,” he said. – Bernama
