KUALA LUMPUR, January 13: The second phase of the 2020 Malaysia Population and Housing Census, which includes face-to-face interviews, will be restructured based on three implementation categories of the Movement Control Order (MCO), according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) .

DOSM’s 2020 Census Commissioner’s Office said that the Census Operations standard operating procedure in Malaysia 2020 Census field activities, approved by the National Security Council, will be used in the second phase of the census.

Other than that, according to the office, face-to-face censuses are allowed in the Recovery Motion Control Order and Conditional Motion Control Order areas, while not allowed in the MCO and Motion Control Order areas. improved.

For disallowed areas, census information will be collected online through the e-Census platform and called by phone, whichever is most appropriate.

2020 Census Commissioner Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin said that all parties played an important role in jointly flattening the curve of COVID-19 cases, which is why DOSM has reopened the electronic census platform.

“Based on the response received so far, the 2020 Malaysian Census recorded a total of 8.8 million or 27.1% of the estimated 32.7 million Malaysians.

“Therefore, people who have not yet completed the census are urged to complete the census information online and those who need an ID to complete the electronic census can contact the helpdesk via helpdesk.banci @ dosm.gov. mi or refer to the nearest state DOSM, ”he said.

Meanwhile, the statement also said that Mohd Uzir, who is also the chief statistician at the DOSM, was confirmed negative for COVID-19 today, through a screening test conducted by the Health Ministry on January 11.
