COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,985 new cases today, while patients in intensive care still have an upward trend.
The Klang Valley accounted for 38.1 percent of new cases, followed by Johor and Sabah (17.9 percent) and Sabah (15.1 percent). A third of the new cases in the Klang Valley do not come from known clusters or are detected by contact tracing.
In Selangor, 89 new cases were from people with symptoms, who are more likely to spread the virus than those who are asymptomatic. The Selangor Health Department is the only department that provides this category of data.
Malaysian citizens accounted for 70.7 percent of the new cases. As of yesterday, the country’s RT-PCR testing capacity was 60,053, of which 50,316 tests were processed.
In Sabah, 5,684 tests were carried out, 196 percent more capacity (2,900).

Three of the four reported deaths were from Sabah. The youngest victim was 19 years old. The cumulative number of Covid-19 deaths for Sabah had reached 287 or 51 percent of the national total (563).
The details of the four deceased are as follows:
Patient 67,314 – 63-year-old male, deceased at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Sabah.
Patient 98,481 – 77-year-old man, died at Enche ‘Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, Johor.
Patient 131,515 – 62-year-old foreign male, body taken to Tawau Hospital, Sabah.
Patient 138,626 – Foreign woman, 19 years old, body transferred to Papar Hospital.
