KUALA LUMPUR: The Employee Provident Fund (EPF) has approved 2.5 million of the 3.88 million applications for i-Sinar in Category 1, which implies withdrawals totaling RM19.62 billion as of January 4, 2021.

In a statement today, EPF said that the first month’s payment amounting to RM10.07 billion will be made in stages starting on January 5, 2021.

“Most of the remaining 1.4 million submissions that have not yet been approved fall within the criteria outlined in Category 2, which will open for submissions starting January 11, 2021.

“Members belonging to Category 2 are advised to start preparing relevant documents such as official pay stubs (detailing total wages, including overtime and commissions) and / or bank statements to upload to i-Sinar at line, ”he said.

EPF said that 701 requests were not approved due to various reasons, such as mismatched bank account numbers, requests made on behalf of deceased members, or members being able to make full withdrawals from Account 1 at the existing facility of 55 years.

“The EPF also assures members that the fund has implemented measures to prevent irresponsible third parties or scammers from making false presentations and posing a danger to hard-earned retirement savings for members,” he said.

Therefore, he said that EPF strongly advised its members to avoid sharing photos or documents of their i-Sinar presentations or withdrawals on social media, as this would expose them to potential scams and scammers. – Called
