JADON SANCHO had “prepared” to move to Manchester United, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said.

The 20-year-old England winger emerged as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main target during the summer transfer window.

United were unable to sign him as the German giants refused to budge on their £ 108 million starting price.

But Dortmund boss Watzke has revealed that Sancho was ready to move to Old Trafford.

He told Kicker: “Subconsciously, Jadon had probably already prepared himself a bit for a change.

“I think at least he had thought about it so much that he lost his cool.

“I’ve found him trying really hard for weeks.”

Sancho attracted a wide spectrum of interest following his incredible run in form last season.

He was involved in 34 goals in just 32 league games, scoring 17 times and giving 17 assists.

But the former Manchester City star has struggled to reach the same heights this season.

Sancho had failed to score a single goal in 11 Bundesliga games this season.

Speaking about Sancho’s drop in form, Watzke added: “The biggest difference is that he used to not think about his next ball action.

“Now think about it, and the tenth of a second you lose is usually exactly the one where the opponent is already standing.

“The more you try as a creative person, the more difficult it becomes.”

Sancho finally scored his first goal of the campaign during Sunday’s win over Wolfsburg.

Watzke added: “I think you need two or three success stories in a row, then things will get better again quickly.

“He remains one of the greatest talents out there.”

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have also joined the race to sign Sancho from Dortmund.

But United believes they will be able to sign him for less than £ 100 million after his drastic drop in form.
