KUALA LUMPUR: A construction site in Jalan Ampang here is closed for 30 days because a “kongsi house” (rooms) for workers was built without the permission of the City Council.
The closing order was issued today, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Noor Hisham Dahlan said. The notice stated that DBKL had not obtained consent for workers’ homes to be built in the sub-basement area.
The site is the location of a group of 28 cases of Covid-19 infections, all of them foreign workers.
The health ministry has said it is investigating the source of Covid-19 infections there and did not rule out the possibility that this group may be related to other groups.
Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa, who said some quarters of workers are dirty, urged contractors and developers to follow health guidelines and not compromise worker health.
He also said Covid-19 cases were detected at the Pavilion Embassy construction site in Jalan Ampang.
