It goes without saying that Liverpool need to sign at least one central defender this winter.

The January transfer window is officially open for business and the Reds, who have lost Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term knee injuries, must desperately reinforce that position.

With Joel Matip also offside at the moment, Fabinho, a midfielder, is Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s best center-back at the moment.

But speculation abounds that the Premier League champions are interested in Sven Botman.

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool are interested in the 20-year-old Dutchman, who could leave Lille for as little as £ 27 million, the French report claimed in December.

And the young powerhouse hasn’t done much to quell rumors about its future.

On Instagram, Botman uploaded a video of a boomerang at his agent’s office, followed by a love heart emoji and a handshake emoji, perhaps suggesting a deal?

It could be nothing, but, with the transfer window open, linked players need to be especially careful when uploading things to social media by virtue of how it could be considered a clue.

On this occasion, what the reported Liverpool goal has posted is certainly interesting and it remains to be seen what happens in the coming weeks.
