PETALING JAYA: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air will remain the “third force” in politics and does not intend to cooperate with any coalition at this time, says its president Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Photo).

“We are not committed to other parties. We want to see what these coalitions are going to do and what they represent.

“If it has something to do with our own goal, then we can consider lending support. But at the moment, we are not engaged (with either party), ”he said during a press conference in Shah Alam after an event in Pejuang on Thursday (December 31).

Dr. Mahathir was responding to the prospects of cooperating with PKR and DAP to take on Perikatan Nasional at GE15, which is expected to take place next year.

Earlier on Thursday, DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng said Pakatan Harapan plans to hold a “grand coalition” meeting in January to confront GE15. He added that the meeting was to bring together the opposition parties, but did not elaborate.

Amanah Chairman Mohamad Sabu also raised the idea of forging a United Opposition coalition to confront GE15, who said recently in Melaka that the party is prepared to unite the Opposition parties to form a grand coalition.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahathir said that Pejuang has a “Plan B” in case his application for registration as a political party is not approved by the Registrar of Companies.

“It’s a secret. I can’t tell you that. Last time, when the government refused to register Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, we were still able to overcome that and win the elections.

“Trust us, we know how to do things,” he added.
