JOHOR BARU: Johor police are searching for a secret society leader believed to be the mastermind behind the murder of a car salvage.

Head of State, Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay (Photo) said that so far 12 members of Ngo Seik Kee (Five Colors), aged between 17 and 31, had been arrested, having been charged in court with murder on Wednesday (December 30).

“Investigations so far revealed that the victim is also part of a different secret society group originating from Selangor.

“The victim came here to retrieve the car, which members of Ngo Seik Kee were also looking at,” he said at a press conference held at the Johor police headquarters here on Thursday (December 31).

Comm Ayob said that Ngo Seik Kee’s leader, identified as Tan Kim Boon, 36, was from Batu Pahat, where the group had been active in Johor since the 1980s.

He added that many members of the secret society were working as auto repossession. However, instead of returning the cars to the banks, they would sell them to a third party at a cheaper price.

“However, buyers would have to pay the monthly fee to secret societies and would receive a sticker on their vehicles saying the car should not leave the state.

“We believe that the victim entered Ngo Seik Kee’s territory to take the car and this infuriated them,” he said.

Comm Ayob warned that the police would take action against secret societies in the state soon, as they were also actively involved in drug-related activities.

He said police had so far identified eight active secret society groups in the state, with 483 members across Johor.

The body of a 34-year-old man with stab wounds was found in a ditch at Km 40.1 of the North-South Highway near Sedenak, bound for Kuala Lumpur.

The shipper of the car is said to have died from several stab wounds and wounds to the head and body on December 20.

The victim and a friend had previously recovered a Toyota Vellfire here and were returning to Kuala Lumpur in the same vehicle when they were intercepted by two other vehicles, causing the multipurpose vehicle to lose control.

The victim’s body was left at the scene, while his friend managed to flee.
