CAIRO / AMMAN: Egypt on Wednesday condemned the deadly explosions that hit the Aden airport in southern Yemen, just after the arrival of a new power-sharing Saudi government.
Egypt stressed that such “despicable terrorist acts” will not discourage the new Yemeni government from pursuing its tasks to restore state institutions, the Xinhua news agency reported, citing the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement.
Cairo also reaffirmed its position to support Yemen in its fight to restore security and stability, achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people and confront all forms of terrorism and its supporters, the statement added.
Egypt expressed its solidarity with the government and people of Yemen, offered its condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
On the same note, Jordan also condemned the attack on Wednesday, which has allegedly killed at least 26 people and injured more than 50.
Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Deifallah Fayez highlighted Jordan’s denunciation of this “cowardly terrorist attack,” according to a ministry statement.
He also expressed his rejection against all forms of violence and terrorism, aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of Yemen, as well as hampering efforts to prevent deterioration in Yemen, end the conflict, achieve peace and meet the needs of the Yemeni people. .
Three massive explosions rocked Aden International Airport in southern Yemen on Wednesday, minutes after a plane carrying new power-sharing members of the Saudi Arabian government landed at the airport.
Yemeni President Abdu-Rabbu Mansour Hadi accused the Houthi rebel group of being behind the blasts, Xinhua reported according to a statement released by the pro-government ministry based in the southern port city of Aden.
