Covid-19: 1,925 new cases, two deaths today

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of new daily Covid-19 cases in Malaysia stands at four figures at 1,925 cases today, while the total of active cases is 21,443.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the additional new cases brought the overall total in the country to 108,615 cases.

He said that of the total new cases, 10 were imported, while local broadcasts of Covid-19 accounted for 1,915 cases.

“Selangor reported the highest daily cases with 747 and 625 of the cases being from Covid-19 clusters and detection of close contact in active cases in the field. This was followed by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur with 360 cases, ”he said.

“Pahang recorded 288 cases with its increase influenced by the prison-related group such as the Tembok Mempaga group, which reported 282 cases,” he said in a statement on the development of Covid-19 today.

In this regard, Dr. Noor Hisham said that the two new deaths recorded today involve locals.

The first death involved a 65-year-old man from Putrajaya who had diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, as well as heart problems and strokes.

The second death was a 68-year-old woman from Kelantan who had high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney problems.

Other than that, Dr. Noor Hisham said the number of recovery cases was 1,123 cases, bringing cumulative recoveries to 86,715 cases.

He said that to date, 117 cases have been treated in the intensive care unit and 55 of them required respiratory assistance.
