231 arrested for MCO violations, says Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 231 people for violating various MCO violations, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This includes not registering clients (80), not wearing masks in crowded public places (71), activities in entertainment establishments (63) and not physical distancing (13), among others.

He said the task force monitoring SOP compliance on Tuesday (Dec. 29) had conducted 44,822 checks, including at supermarkets, restaurants, transportation terminals, factories, banks and government officials.

“At Ops Benteng, the authorities arrested 29 undocumented immigrants and seized 10 ground vehicles. A total of 110 barricades were also installed in order to detect undocumented migrants, ”he said on Wednesday (December 30).

Ismail Sabri said that since March 30, authorities under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government had carried out 13,154 cleanup exercises.

On Tuesday, 23 such operations were carried out in eight states, as well as in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

On the mandatory quarantine, the Chief Minister said that as of July 24, there were 94,125 people who had returned to Malaysia and were quarantined at government-designated stations.

Currently, there are 6,747 people who are in the quarantine process.

People had returned from 36 countries, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Spain, China, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States, New Zealand, Australia and France.
