After a series of advancements, the 2021 Yamaha Exciter was finally launched in the Vietnam market, with prices starting at RM8,235. Also known as the Yamaha Y15ZR or “Y-Suku” in Malaysia, the Vietnam Exciter model receives an overall makeover that includes body, engine and transmission.

The 2021 Exciter uses the same engine as the Yamaha YZF-R15 (RM11,988), as well as the Yamaha MT-15 (RM11,998), a 155cc EFI powered single cylinder mill with SOCH and variable valve actuation ( VVA). Mated to a six-speed transmission with slip assist clutch, the Exciter produces 17.7 hp at 9,500 rpm and 14.4 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, a touch less than the 19 hp and 14.7 Nm of torque of the R15.

In addition to the engine room, major visual changes can be seen in the bodywork of the Exciter, which comes with all new body panels, with LED headlights and LED DRLs located underneath in the front fairing. For the Premium version of the Exciter, the front braking is updated with a two-piston caliper, while the forks are now 10mm higher, providing 100mm of suspension travel.
