KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s three largest frozen meat suppliers, Allana Group, Amroon and Al-Aali, are guaranteed to be halal, says Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Rosol Wahid.

He said that the Muslim community in the country should not have to worry about buying meat from the three companies.

“Do not be swayed by information spread on social media, which claims that an alleged meat cartel has been operating for more than 40 years,” he told the media after visiting the frozen meat import company Fatric Sdn Bhd in Selayang here.

Rosol said the visit was to instill confidence in the community that the meat supply at the market was halal.

Earlier in Dewan Negara, Rosol said a frozen meat importer allegedly involved in the Johor meat cartel scandal will be indicted in court tomorrow for using a fake halal logo on his vehicles.

He also refuted the allegation that the government was trying to protect certain companies or involved in the issue of great concern among Muslims in the country.
