Four imported cases in S’wak, including three from Johor

KUCHING: The four new Covid-19 cases reported today in Sarawak were imported, and three of them involve people who arrived from Johor, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said.

This brings the cumulative number of cases in Sarawak to 1,114, SDMC said in a statement.

The three B import cases (originating from elsewhere in Malaysia) involved two people who entered via Sibu airport and one who landed at Kuching International Airport on December 26 and 27.

He said one of them was a Sarawak woman who arrived at Sibu Airport from Senai Airport in Johor on December 26 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

Another case involved a Sarawak man who arrived in Sibu from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA1) on December 27 and was confirmed positive today.

“These were classified as import B cases that were infected in Johor,” the statement said.

The third case of import B was a Sarawak man who returned from Johor via Kuching International Airport on December 27 and was found positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

The only case of A importation from abroad involved a Sarawak man who arrived at Kuching International Airport on December 26 after stopping off at KLIA1 on December 22 upon returning from Liberia, Africa, SDMC added.

Four districts of Sarawak (Sibu, Kuching, Bintulu and Lawas) are in the yellow zone, while 36 districts remain in the green zone. –Called
