KUALA LUMPUR: Work from home (WFH) is now a permanent option, not just the Movement Control Order (MCO) agreement, said Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) President and CEO Jalil Rasheed (pix).
In his May 7, 2020 tweets, Jalil said that as the largest state fund has the WFH as a permanent option, most meetings would be a hybrid of virtual and in-person.
“We defied all odds by working well in the last two months virtually. Nothing prevents us from adopting flexibility permanently.
“We have come a long way in the use of technology, virtual meetings and digital signatures, so this momentum must continue even when staff returns,” said Jalil, the youngest president / CEO of PNB who was appointed last year. at the age of 38.
According to him, this is part of the strategic plan that PNB had presented last week, one area of focus is organizational transformation.
“People and culture are a big part of this. So this initiative fits perfectly, ”he said.
However, he added that since not all roles can be performed from home, such as drivers and security, essentially the company offers employees the option of choosing how or where they want to work.
He said staff would be equipped with the tech hardware and will be asked to download the MySejahtera app to make sure it can be tracked if any unfortunate incidents occur.
“We will also issue guidelines or advice to people managers on how to manage remote or split teams, answer all frequently asked questions (FAQ) and assign dedicated people to them when they have questions,” he added.
Meanwhile, he said that PNB will extend its WFH exercise until the end of May to ensure that employees can make the necessary preparations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri amid the closure of schools and daycare centers.
Jalil said that since the average age of the staff is 39, many have children who go to school.
“We will be fluent to synchronize when schools reopen. And being so close to Hari Raya, it is better for everyone to stay home and come back after (that),” he said.
Starting in June 2020, Jalil said the return would be deployed for three months to ensure there are not too many employees in the building.
“Those who are well from home will continue to do so. Of course, anyone who wants to return to the office is welcome, ”he said.
He also said that next week, PNB will present flexitime whereby employees would choose the hours they want to work, as long as they turn in their work.
