People collecting water after a pipe burst cut off supplies in Klang, Shah Alam and Kuala Langat in October.

PETALING JAYA: A burst pipeline will result in unscheduled interruptions of the water supply to parts of Klang, Shah Alam and Petaling later today.

In a statement this morning, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said that the main pipeline at Bulatan Persiaran Tengku Ampuan in Section 15, Shah Alam, had broken.

“To ensure that the repair work can be carried out smoothly, Air Selangor will have to shut off the water supply starting at 1 pm.

“The closure will cause an unscheduled water outage in 58 areas in the Klang / Shah Alam region and 72 areas in the Petaling region,” he said.

The repair work is estimated to finish today at 9pm, and the water supply will be distributed to consumers upon completion, as the recovery of the water supply will vary from area to area.

“Consumers are advised to store enough water before the water supply is shut off and to use water wisely during the unscheduled water outage period,” Air Selangor said, adding that updates would be provided on all its channels. Communication.

The pipeline broke after a similar incident that affected the water supply in Klang and Shah Alam on December 21. Twelve areas suffered unscheduled water outages after the pipeline broke at Jalan Seruling 59 in Taman Andalas, Klang.

There were also two similar incidents in September and October, which caused the water supply to be interrupted at various locations in Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

Several areas of the Klang Valley had also suffered major water outages during the year due to contamination from raw river water, leading to the temporary closure of treatment plants.
