KUALA LUMPUR: The government is imposing provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel in coil, sheet or any other form (subject merchandise) from Indonesia and Vietnam.
The Ministry of Industry and International Trade (MITI) said that it had completed the preliminary determination of the anti-dumping investigation on imports of the subject merchandise originating or exported from the alleged countries and found that there was sufficient evidence for further investigation.
“Therefore, the government has decided to impose a provisional measure, which will take the form of provisional anti-dumping duties secured by a guarantee equal to the amount of the dumping margins determined in the preliminary determination.
“Provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 7.73 percent to 34.82 percent will be applied to imports of the merchandise in question from the alleged countries and will take effect no more than 120 days from December 26, 2020 “MITI said today in a statement.
In summary, the anti-dumping investigation was initiated on July 28, 2020, based on a petition submitted by Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd (petitioner) as the only domestic industry producing the like product, alleging that imports of goods in issue originating or exported from the alleged countries are imported into Malaysia at a price below the selling price in their domestic market and caused material injury to the domestic Malaysian industry.
MITI said a final determination would be made no later than April 23, 2021.
He said that interested parties, such as importers, foreign producers and / and exporters and associations related to the investigation, could have access to the non-confidential version of the report on the preliminary determination by submitting a written request to MITI.
