Chief of State Police Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan (Photo) said the union, which had been active since earlier this year, was arrested during a special operation conducted by Bukit Aman and the state’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Department of Chemistry.

He said the suspects were detained during several raids on a factory in Bukit Mertajam believed to be processing drugs and a store in Butterworth.

However, in the first raid, the police discovered that instead of drugs, the factory processed unregistered pills and traditional medicine.

“On December 24, police arrested two men and a woman aged 44 to 50 at a factory in the Machang Indah Industrial Park in Bukit Mertajam at 10 am after police discovered that the factory was processing pills and medicines. unregistered, “he said during a press conference. at the state police headquarters.

Comm Sahabudin said the suspects had committed a crime under the 1984 Cosmetics and Drug Control Regulations, adding that 22 items worth RM2,000 were seized from the factory during the raid.

In a second raid at around 10:30 a.m. on December 24, police went to the premises of a store in Taman Kenchana, Butterworth and detained a 50-year-old man after discovering 156,777 bottles of drugs of various brands by value of RM12mil.

“The location was found processing unregistered drugs and had committed a crime under the 1984 Drug and Cosmetic Control Regulations,” he said.

Comm Sahabudin said that all the suspects were released the same day after taking their statements.

He said all of the suspects were found to be in violation of the regulations of the 1984 Drug and Cosmetic Control Regulation 7 (1) (a).

It said that the suspects had committed a crime under Regulation 30 (1) of the Drug and Cosmetics Control Regulation, and if found guilty, they would be punished under Article 12 (1) of the Law on the Sale of Drugs from 1952.

Meanwhile, the head of the state Department of Health’s pharmacy control unit, Arnie Fadzilah, said unions are believed to have processed the drugs for sale domestically and export to Vietnam.

“The pills and drugs were also sold in Chinese medicine stores and online platforms,” ​​he said.
