PETALING JAYA: The leaders of Umno have been warned that the party will face disastrous consequences if certain leaders continue to press for cooperation with DAP and Anwar Ibrahim to form a new uncensored political alignment.

Without naming anyone, Umno Supreme Council member Annuar Musa reminded certain leaders, who said they acted as “spokesmen,” that the move went against the party’s official position.

He also expressed his displeasure with the top management for not acting against these leaders who had openly challenged the official position of the party.

“Those who still adhere to the party’s position ‘No DAP, No Anwar’ are watching the action of these leaders.

“If these people are allowed to continue to spread the idea of cooperation with DAP and Anwar, the role of uniting Malaysians will soon be taken over by another party.

“The rank and file members of Umno are unhappy with the decision to cooperate with Anwar and DAP,” he said on his Facebook page.

The Barisan Nasional general secretary was making an obvious reference to Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who had recently said that the “No DAP, no Anwar” stance was not set in stone and was based simply on sentiment.

“If the problem requires us to do something that can benefit the rakyat, that should be the priority. As for DAP, we as leaders must be wise in managing or dividing power, determining what our partners can give or do, ”Tengku Razaleigh had said.
