KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police Department of Integrity and Compliance Standards (JIPS) received many complaints from the public about the police failing to fulfill their responsibilities as law enforcement officers in the country.
Bukit Aman JIPS director Datuk Zamri Yahya said the cases allegedly failed to take action, including against drug trafficking and gambling unions, despite the reports filed.
He said there were complaints from police chiefs who did not take action on reports made by the public and allowed the crime to occur in their respective areas.
There are complaints from district police chiefs who conspired with drug trafficking and gambling syndicates and got rewarded for that, but when we checked, no complaints (about drug trafficking and illegal gambling) were filed in the affected areas, he told Bernama.
He said the issue of misconduct and integrity among members of the police force continues to be raised by the public, despite many disciplinary measures taken against offenders since 1986.
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation (JSJN) director Datuk Razarudin Husain said the department will not engage with any officers and staff associated with drug syndicates.
“I cannot deny that there are police officers involved in the sale of ketum … we have received a report on this matter and the individuals involved will be charged in court,” he said. -Called
