DANNY MURPHY: Wherever Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah ends up, let’s enjoy it

Mo Salah should receive a great reception from the 2,000 fans inside Anfield for Sunday’s game at West Brom. If someone hits you because of an interview you gave to Spanish media, you are out of commission.

The only thing Salah did was not compromise the rest of his career with Liverpool or shut the door entirely on a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid.

As a fan, you’d want him to nail his colors to the neck and knock down any transfer speculation right away, but if you think about it from Salah’s point of view, it’s understandable.

You did not grow up in England, your family may want to live in a warmer climate or a different culture. He would have played for Liverpool forever if he had been a guaranteed pick like Salah, but these days it’s normal for players to be left with options.

I always think players are best judged by their pace of work and performances on the field and Salah cannot be blamed this season or at any time since he joined the club.

He is in brilliant scoring form and we should focus on that rather than what may or may not happen in the future.

At the earliest, Salah will be leaving in the summer, and even that is far from clear. So let’s enjoy it while we can and hope that it continues with its purple patch so Liverpool can win the Premier League again and win back the Champions League.

He was only honest in the interview, so don’t let that change your view of him as a person.

It is clear that he does not like to be replaced and was upset that he was overlooked as captain in the last European match in Denmark. Okay.

For me, it shows someone who has pride and passion. Tells you someone who cares. I don’t see that as a fault.

The future of Dele Alli should be in the hands of José Mourinho

Regardless of how Dele Alli’s future is decided, it will be José Mourinho’s choice and Tottenham will back their coach.

President Daniel Levy made his most important statement when he appointed Mourinho. Basically, it was a sign of how much he wanted success.

Having made that decision, he will allow Mourinho to lead the team in his own way and decide who comes and goes, rather than viewing Dele as a pet project that must be nurtured and maintained at the club at all costs.

While I am a huge fan of Dele and the speed with which he impressed in the Premier League and for England, he has been doing poorly lately, culminating in Mourinho blaming him for conceding a goal at Stoke last week.

If a new challenge arises, taking it up might not be a bad decision for him. He is only 24 years old and a lot of football to come.

I think Mourinho is mainly trying to motivate him, we saw him do the same last season with Tanguy Ndombele, but if a Paris Saint-Germain or a Champions League club came in, a parting of the roads may be suitable for everyone.

Tongues will wag if Mauricio Pochettino takes the PSG spot, although given the variety of attacking talents they already have, I’m not sure Dele going there is necessarily a big fit at the moment.

As for skills, there is no question about Dele. But I left Liverpool in 2004, a club that I supported as a child and love to this day, because I wanted to play more football.

You can see from Dele’s body language that this has been a frustrating time. I don’t think you want to stay much longer if you don’t have play time.
