NASHVILLE: So far there has been no further information on whether the remains found belong to a victim of the blast or its perpetrator, as authorities believe the blast was an “intentional” act, the Sputnik news agency reported.

Authorities have discovered human remains near the blast site in Nashville, Tennesse, Sputnik reported, citing the Associated Press, citing two law enforcement sources.

The sources could not specify at the moment if the remains are related to the explosion that shook the city in the early hours of Friday, leaving at least three people injured, according to local police.

Later, the police confirmed that investigators found possible human remains near the scene of the explosion. Hours earlier, Nashville Mayor John Cooper said “it looks like a bomb went off.”

The explosion was described as being linked to a vehicle. According to Nashville Police Chief John Drake, police officers found a recreational vehicle (RV) while responding to a call about shooting downtown.

Drake added that there was a recorded warning that was played before the explosion “saying that a potential bomb would detonate in 15 minutes.”

The explosion was classified as “intentional”, while authorities do not know exactly if someone was in the van at the time of the explosion. The FBI is now seeking information on the driver / owner of the RV that exploded.

Following the explosion, a “state of civil emergency” was declared in the city.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have joined in the investigation of the incident. Both the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the president-elect, Joe Biden, have been briefed on the matter. – Called
