Record of 2,335 Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health has reported 2,335 cases of Covid-19 and 2 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 874 recoveries, bringing the total number of discharged to 83,414.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said that the 2,335 new cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 103,900 cases.

There are 20,035 active cases with 108 patients being treated in intensive care and 50 requiring respiratory assistance.

The two deaths bring the balance to 451.

The reported deaths were two Malaysians, a 44-year-old from Sandakan, who suffered from obesity, and the other, 70, from Melaka, who was diabetic and had high blood pressure.

Of the new cases reported today, 308 were from cells, immigrant detention camps and prisons.

Kuala Lumpur had the highest number of new cases (728), followed by Selangor (710), Johor (412) and Sabah (248).

Penang had 58 new cases, followed by Kelantan (54), Negeri Sembilan (33), Perak (26), Pahang (19), Labuan and Kedah (16 each), Sarawak (6), Melaka (5), Putrajaya ( 3) and Perlis (1).

No new cases were reported in Terengganu.
