Pochettino has been out of work since he was fired by Tottenham 13 months ago.

He had been waiting for the Manchester United job with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job under constant scrutiny.

But after a disappointing start to the season, Solskjaer has brought United back into the title race and into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Pochettino is now ready to make the leap to the leadership of the club where he played between 2001-03.

And his first transfer target when the window opens in the New Year will be one of his former players at Tottenham.

Although Alli was a regular in Pochettino’s teams, he has fallen out of favor with current coach José Mourinho.

The 24-year-old Alli has started just five games this season and was eliminated shortly after Stoke drew their 3-1 victory in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Wednesday and Mourinho publicly accused him of his goal.

Mourinho said: “A player in that position is a player who has to link and create and not create problems for his own team.”

Tuchel’s firing comes just four months after leading the team to the Champions League final and after winning back-to-back titles.

He received his marching orders within hours of taking over PSG’s 4-0 win over Strasbourg on Wednesday.

PSG are currently third in Ligue 1 after losing four of their 17 league games.
