Covid-19: One death, 54 new positive cases recorded in Malaysia – MoH

KUCHING: Malaysia recorded another fatality from Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) today, bringing the death toll to 108, says the Ministry of Health (MoH).

“The latest victim involved a 74-year-old Malaysian woman who had a history of autoimmune disease, high blood pressure, and thyroid disease.

“She was admitted to the Melaka Hospital on March 29 and died on May 8 at 11.23 pm,” the ministry said in a status update on its Facebook page.

The Health Ministry also said that 54 new positive cases were registered in Malaysia today, bringing the total positive cases in the country to 6,589.

Meanwhile, the ministry noted that a total of 65 cases were discharged from the hospital as of today, bringing the total number of cases discharged to 4,929.

Currently, the total accumulated count for active cases is 1,552, where 18 are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of which six require respiratory assistance.

The Health Ministry also stated that two new positive cases of Covid-19 were linked to the group of health workers in Sarawak, bringing the group’s total accumulated total to 68, of which 18 were active cases, while the remaining 50 they were recovered cases.

Other groups in Sarawak saw no increase in the number of positive cases.
