PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia and the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (Finas) will oversee the implementation and compliance of the SOPs outlined by the National Security Council to curb Covid-19 in cinemas across the country.

In a statement today, Finas said that yesterday a “Lawatan Santai” film program was held at the Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) in Alamanda here to monitor compliance with the SOPs.

GSC has opened some of its cinemas across the country since December 16 with the 1984 Wonder Woman movie as its main attraction.

The program was officiated by the secretary general of the ministry, Mohammad Mentek, and was attended by his assistant secretary general (telecommunications infrastructure and digital economy), Tan Chuan Ou, as well as the executive director of Finas, Ahmad Idham Nadzri.

Mohammad also visited the GSC projector room to monitor the operation and process of showing films in cinemas.

According to Finas, the “Lawatan Santai” session sought to strengthen the strategic relationship between the ministry, Finas and the actors of the film industry to face the challenges of economic recovery after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
