MCO Violations: 168 Arrested Dec. 23

PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 168 people for various violations of the recovery movement’s control orders, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said on Thursday (December 24).

The violations included not social distancing, not placing face masks in crowded places and not registering customers and activities at entertainment points.

Police also conducted more than 48,111 checks on Wednesday (December 23), including at supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, government offices, banks, and transportation terminals to ensure compliance.

Ops Benteng saw the arrest of 49 illegal immigrants and the seizure of seven vehicles.

“Measures will be taken against those who enter the country illegally. There is no compromise on this, ”he said on Thursday (December 24).

Ismail also said that 35 sanitation exercises were carried out across the country on Wednesday.

Under mandatory quarantine, 80,000 people have returned to Malaysia since July 24 and had been ordered to self-quarantine at designated stations.
