A fire breaks out on a monorail bus at Maharajalela station

PETALING JAYA: A fire broke out at the Maharajalela Monorail Station on Thursday (December 24), although no one was injured in the incident.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said the driver’s cabin and one of the monorail cars caught fire, but no passengers were injured.

The Department had received an emergency call at 7.27am, and then a squad of 21 men was dispatched to put out the fire.

Operation commander Mohamad Iqbal Zakaria said the fire involved one of the monorail cars heading towards KL Sentral from Maharajalela.

“All the passengers had escaped safely from the car before the firefighters arrived. The fire went out at 8.56 am. The cause of the fire is being investigated, ”he said in a statement on Thursday (December 24).

RapidKL said there were no train services from KL Sentral to Maharajalela, although they were providing a free van transport service for ferry passengers from KL Sentral – Tun Sambanthan – Maharajalela and vice versa.

They said passengers can board a van with license plate number WSX 4385 from these stations.
