Kit Siang criticized for selective criticism

PETALING JAYA: Gerakan has chosen DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang (Photo) to the task of practicing selective criticism against alleged corrupt practices involving political rivals.

His Vice President Baljit Singh said Kit Siang was quick to allege a scandal of incalculable proportions over the acquisition of the Covid-19 vaccine by the Perikatan Nasional government.

But Kit Siang decided to remain silent when her son Lim Guan Eng and daughter-in-law Betty Chew were charged with corruption in the court of law, he added.

Baljit said that Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had denied Kit Siang’s claim that Malaysia was paying 20 times more for Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine compared to Belgium.

“But Kit Siang declined Khairy’s invitation to meet to explain the acquisition process, as he was unable to publicly disclose it due to the nondisclosure agreement with the manufacturer of the vaccine,” he said.

“Kit Siang did not even ask for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the corruption allegations involving her son, which has tarnished the image of DAP.

“(But) he wasted no time in issuing a statement based on a tweet from Belgian Secretary of State Eva De Bleeker, who revealed that her country paid € 12 (RM60) per dose for Pfizer’s Covid 19 vaccine,” he said.
