COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 1,348 new cases of Covid-19 and five deaths today.

The Klang Valley reported the most cases (56.8 percent) followed by Sabah (14 percent) and Malacca (9.2 percent).

Selangor reported 535 cases of which 160 cases were detected through “other examinations”. The cases detected through those presenting symptoms amounted to 35, while the 24 cases were detected before departure, before a new job, pre-hospital admission and voluntary detection. In Malacca, 123 of the 124 new cases belong to the Jalan Harapan group, which originated in Sungai Buloh prison in Selangor.

Main indicators:

  • Active cases: 18,279 ↑ (633 more than the previous day, new record)
  • ICU patients: 104 ↓ (9 less than the previous day)
  • Intubated patients: 44 ↓ (7 less than the previous day)
  • Deaths: 5

Of the five new deaths reported, only one was from Sabah. The cumulative number of deaths from Covid-19 for Sabah stood at 253 or 57 percent of the national total (444).

Details of the five victims, all Malaysian nationals with comorbidity, are as follows:

Patient 69,732 – Woman, 40 years old, died at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor.

Patient 75,697 – Female, 67, passed away at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor.

Patient 95,578 – 49-year-old male, body taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Patient 97,017 – Male, 71, passed away at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor.

Patient 97,153 – Male, 68 years old, corpse taken to Tengku Ja’afar Hospital, Seremban.
