KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 23): Top Glove Corp Bhd, the site of the country’s largest virus outbreak with more than 5,000 cases, said Wednesday that whistleblowers will no longer face termination and three complaint hotlines have been established. from the workers.

Khadka took two photos in May of co-workers huddling together at a Top Glove factory, which he shared with a workers’ rights activist.
“If this incident occurs today, this termination will not happen because we have hired consultants and they have guided us on what is the right thing to do,” Managing Director Lee Kim Meow said in an interview with the radio station.
The world’s largest manufacturer of medical gloves has established three helplines for injured workers, one internal and two staffed by a consultant and an audit firm, Lee told BFM. He did not mention the outside companies that operate the helplines.
Lee said Khadka did not give the company comment on working conditions, but has since improved its processes.
“We actually spoke to him and he admitted that his intention was to pass the photo to someone so that basically someone uses it to discredit Top Glove,” he said.
Top Glove became the site of Malaysia’s largest virus cluster this month after more than 5,000 workers were infected, while two other glove manufacturers also reported outbreaks.
The manufacturer reported last week the first death of a Covid-19 worker.
“From this episode, he taught us many lessons. We are honored that there are still many areas for improvement. Needless to say, we will do more,” Lee said.
