Sabah’s government eases restrictions on various economic sectors by allowing food and retail companies to operate

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has allowed more sectors to operate in light of the state entering the fifth phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

In a statement released today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal announced a list of food and retail sector companies that have been given the green light to operate, starting today.

“These retail activities include shopping malls, supermarkets / hypermarkets, department stores, pharmacies / personal care stores, boutiques / clothing stores, convenience stores / minimarts, laundries (including self-service stores), fashion accessory stores, retail stores. furniture, jewelry stores, electrical / electronics stores, book and stationery stores, mobile stores, computer stores, hardware stores, pet stores, workshops and stores that sell vehicle parts, optical stores and other types of grocery stores / local, “said Mohd Shafie.

He said restaurants, street food court / vendor centers, covered roadside food stalls, food kiosks, food trucks, mobile and roadside street vendors, as well as food outlets in All kinds of markets have also been able to operate.

“The implementation of these commercial activities must comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) and the norms established by the Ministry of Health and the local authority,” said Mohd Shafie.

The government has also allowed various modes of public transportation to operate, including taxis, electronic transportation services, trains, public buses, and more.

Shafie further revealed that the government has allowed health-related recreation and leisure activities in state public parks.
