KUALA LUMPUR (December 20): Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has been named as the Strongest Islamic Retail Bank in Malaysia for 2020 by Cambridge International Financial Advisory (Cambridge IFA) in the 6th Islamic Retail Banking Award 2020, held virtually on the 15 December 2020.

In a statement today, Bank Islam said this was the second time it had received the award, which it first won in 2015.

Chief Executive Officer Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said the title demonstrates the bank’s readiness to become the first and only listed Islamic bank in Malaysia and the region.

“Therefore, we will continue to innovate and provide comprehensive financial solutions by leveraging the latest technological advances to meet the needs of a diversified portfolio of clients, while continuing to deliver value to our shareholders,” he said.

The Islamic Retail Banking Award was presented by Cambridge IFA, a UK-based financial intelligence house, to highlight, recognize and honor success stories in the Islamic retail banking sector.

The awarding of the award winners was based on a pioneering Islamic banking efficiency study conducted by Cambridge IFA, ranking more than 130 Islamic retail banks.
