JOHOR BARU: Johor Police will work closely with their counterparts in Selangor after death threats were made against the Chief of the State Police, Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

Comm Ayob, who was previously head of the Counter-Terrorism Division (E8) of the Bukit Aman Special Brigade before being promoted to Johor Police Chief in February this year, said investigations are underway to identify the suspects, who are believed to have links to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. (LTTE).

“I received threats two weeks ago from a man who contacted my personal assistant alleging that three members of the LTTE from Selangor were coming here to kill me.

“The person gave detailed information about me and even knew my home address,” he said when meeting after representing the state police contingent to receive a certificate from the Johor Statistics Department to complete the electronic census here on Sunday ( December 20th).

Ayob added that he was puzzled why the threats were made against him, as he was no longer the head of E8.

“I am not sure why the threats have been made as it has been more than a year since I left Bukit Aman and I do not know why this issue resurfaced again,” he added.
