Five New Covid-19 Clusters Detected

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has detected five new groups of Covid-19, including three groups of workplaces in Selangor, Sabah, Johor and Kelantan.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said in Selangor that he involved the Jalan Zuhrah construction site group detected in Petaling with cases from this group that tested positive since December 14 in an evaluation at the Workplace.

“To date, 450 people have been tested with 49 cases that have tested positive for Covid-19,” he said today in a statement.

He said that in Sabah, two new clusters were detected, namely the Keris Residence Cluster involving workplaces in Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran and that index cases were reported positive on December 12 by screening for symptomatic individuals.

As of December 19, he said, 65 people had been tested and 41 tested positive for the virus.

Another group in Sabah is Grupo Brumas with the index case for this group that tested positive on December 8 after a self-assessment and to date, 89 people have been tested and 16 tested positive.

In Johor, Jalan Timah’s group, a task force involving Johor Bahru and Kulai, for which the index case tested positive on December 18 through a screening test for symptomatic individuals.

Dr. Noor Hisham said that to date, 238 people linked to this group have been tested, of whom 26 have tested positive.

Meanwhile, in Kelantan, the index case of the new Long Panji Cluster in Kota Bharu and Machang tested positive on December 15 through a screening test for symptomatic individuals.

To date, 202 people have been examined and 11 positive cases for Covid-19 have been detected in the group, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham also reported that monitoring and surveillance on three Covid-19 groups ended today, namely the softwood LD group involving the Lahad Datu district in Sabah, the Rajawali group involving the northeast and southwest districts of Penang Island and the Besi Demak group in Sarawak.
