Thiago Alcântara’s increase in injuries sends a message to Liverpool, and all players will be affected

Is this real? Can be this

Yes, Thiago Alcântara was photographed participating in what the club described as a “fitness session” on the field of Liverpool’s AXA Training Center. It was a sight for sore eyes, but there will still be a cold reality to remember.

Everyone connected to Liverpool just wants to see Thiago back on the field and show why he is considered one of the best midfielders in the world. The club will be hopeful that the return is on the near horizon, but will be aware of the damage caused by his injured knee.

We always try [do it] as if we had a wall in front of us, saying ‘OK, you have to take a step back before you can move forward.’ Thiago told Liverpoolfc.com.

Now we think we are in a good mood and looking forward to the end of the year to try to train with the team at another time ”.

Regardless of whether he will be fit to return before the end of the year, the only thing that matters to Liverpool fans is that this is a step in the right direction. The wait will almost certainly be worth it, as he has shown in his two brief appearances for the club that he has what it takes to shift midfield to another gear.

It won’t just be fans and club staff who will be encouraged by Thiago’s progress, his teammates will get a boost as well. You just have to look at the reaction of the squad when it came that they are excited to play alongside the Spanish international.

And yet, despite the understandable excitement, many players will view Thiago’s return as a warning, as much as a morale boost. For some, the absence of Spanish has meant they have been able to thrive with a more regular role on the team.

For example, Curtis Jones has become a star actor in recent weeks, thriving with the added responsibility of playing against some of the toughest opponents in the Premier League. Will he have the same chances when Thiago is back in shape? Perhaps even Jürgen Klopp himself doesn’t know the answer yet.

And that’s it, you are ready.

Surely with the talent that Thiago possesses, if he’s fit he plays, it’s that simple. Unfortunately that means one of the three midfielders who did brilliantly against Tottenham would have to leave.

Is that player likely to be Captain Jordan Henderson? Not really, unless you have a fitness issue, and the same could be said for Gini Wijnaldum.

That said, with Thiago available again, it would free up options on Klopp’s squad and give him the ability to rotate players to keep them fresh and injury free. It will probably not be the case that a player gives way to their inclusion, but simply adds to the options that are already available to the coach.

Seeing Thiago back on training ground, even though he’s not quite ready to train with the first team, is a morale boost for everyone associated with Liverpool. And yet some players must use it as motivation to make sure their place on the team is not in jeopardy.

What I read on Liverpool.com

Ollie has written a really good piece on Divock Origi, and how Liverpool should consider using him as weight to sign a center back in January.

There is also an interesting read on the website about Virgil van Dijk, and why it may not be so easy to hand him a contract extension, as has been reported in recent days.

What i am seeing

The video of Thiago back to training, of course. What else would you be seeing right now?
