Judge Mohammed Mokhzani Mokhtar handed down the sentence against an auto accessories store assistant, Muhammad Safwan Shafie, 27, after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was ordered to serve his jail sentence from the date of his arrest, which was December 12.

Muhammad Safwan was charged with committing the crime at a house in Flat Puchong Permai, Puchong, here at 4.30 pm on December 12.

The charge, framed in Section 307 of the Penal Code, establishes a prison sentence of up to 20 years, after conviction.

Earlier, when a photo of the victim and the scene of the incident were shown for identification, Muhammad Safwan burst into tears and said “I admit it.”

During mitigation, he told the court that he was sorry.

Deputy Prosecutor Shanur Farrahin Shapri requested a severe penalty, taking into account that the crime committed by the accused was serious and the victim was his own son.

“As a parent, the accused must be the protector of the child. The victim stayed with him believing that he could take care of the girl … the two-inch stab to the boy’s abdomen is serious and could cause death.

“The prosecution requests a severe penalty considering that the accused is the father of the victim and the case is in the public interest,” said the prosecutor.

According to the facts of the case, the police received a report about a man insane and holding a knife, before locking themselves with the victim in a house.

After he refused to open the door, the police cut the gate, but the defendant refused to surrender and a fight broke out between him and eight policemen, after which the police recovered a knife and found the girl lying in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor with a two-inch deep gash in the abdomen. -Called
