KUCHING: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has announced that it will allow the reopening of various economic sectors in Sarawak on May 12.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who made the announcement today at a special press conference, said the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be followed will be published in the newspapers tomorrow (May 10) and SDMC will also notify the various decision makers and industry players.

“After analyzing the report from the Sarawak Department of Health, SDMC has decided to allow Sarawak’s economic sectors to operate normally as of May 12.

“Those who wish to operate their businesses on May 12 will only have to notify SDMC of their decision,” he said.

Inter-district travel is still not allowed until further notice from the authorities.
