Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz says total disbursement of RM11 billion has been approved under the Prihatin economic stimulus package.

PETALING JAYA: The finance ministry will give out RM1.7 billion under Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) to 2.3 million new applications and appeals for the cash aid.

The ministry had called for new applications and appeals from April 1 to 30 to ensure that the cash aid would reach those who were eligible and truly in need of assistance.

In a statement today, Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz said the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has completed its review of these new applications and appeals.

“I am pleased to announce that 2.3 million new applications and appeals for BPN have been approved, with a cumulative total payout of RM1.7 billion,” he said.

“With the approval of these new applications and appeals, the total number of BPN recipients currently stands at 10.6 million, with a cumulative total disbursement of RM11 billion (an increase of RM1 billion on top of the initial allocation of RM10 billion).

“The government hopes this BPN will benefit the rakyat and ease their burden during this challenging period.”

Tengku Zafrul said the public may check the status of their applications and appeals from today through https://bpn.hasil.gov.my/.

He said the single payout would be made from May 15.
