PETALING JAYA: A total of 19 Malaysians, including those who were working and studying overseas, were sent back to Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak after undergoing quarantine in the peninsula.
They were flown home on the Royal Malaysia Air Force’s (RMAF) A400M aircraft, which was also used to send medical and other supplies to the three locations.
“Those who were sent back had undergone a 14-day quarantine in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
“They were also verified as not infected with the Covid-19 virus,” the air force said in a statement on Saturday (May 9).
The Natural Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and the Higher Education Ministry made the arrangements.
The group was sent to the Subang Air Force Base at about 4.45am on Friday (May 8).
“They had to go through health screening and their personal belongings were disinfected based on current standard operating procedures,” added the air force.
Once back in Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Labuan, arrangements to send them to their respective districts were made by the state governments and Civil Defense Force.
“The latest group brings the number of Malaysians overseas returned by the air force to Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak, to 159 people on six flights.
“Such flights are results of the cooperation between Nadma and RMAF,” it said.
Meanwhile, for the deployment of medical supplies to the three locations during the Covid-19 pandemic, the air force sent 250 tonnes of supplies on A400m and C130H aircraft.
“Those entrusted with such missions did so with utmost dedication and commitment,” the air force said.
