Fulham 1-1 Liverpool: Expert says Bobby Reid’s goal should have been disallowed

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Bobby Reid opened the scoring midway through the first half before Mohamed Salah tied from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining.

But should Fulham’s opening goal have been allowed to stand?

Some Liverpool fans on social media were convinced that VAR should have intervened after Mohamed Salah was pushed in preparation for the goal.

Salah lost his balance but did not fall to the ground. Referee Andre Marriner seemed to have a perfect view of the incident and clearly did not feel that the shove warranted a free kick.

Seconds later, the ball broke to Reid, who swung the ball through the bottom corner and past Alisson.

The incident was analyzed by beIN Sports experts Richard Keys and Andy Gray at halftime.

While Gray agreed that the goal was legal, his co-host Keys believes that VAR should have ruled out the goal.

“Wait. She put her hands behind her back, so she pushed him? Keys asked Gray.

Gray replied, “He’s over it, yeah.”

Then Keys replied, “Well, that’s a free throw then.”

Gray asked if this was enough for the VAR to get involved.

“For me it’s fine!” Keys said. “For me there are more reasons for the VAR to get involved there than for the penalty.”

It is certainly an interesting point of view and one that will divide opinion.

Jurgen Klopp, however, fully agreed in his post-match interview …

The decision to sanction Liverpool at the end of the second half has also divided opinion on social media.

According to the current laws of the game, the right decision was made.

However, there were so many people puzzled by the decision.
