John Barnes has advised Erling Haaland to sign for Liverpool when he finally decides to leave Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian international joined the Bundesliga club almost 12 months ago and has since built his reputation as one of the most prolific strikers in European football.

Haaland seemed destined to move to Old Trafford in January and reunite with his former coach in Molde. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but was eventually persuaded to join Dortmund.

United are said to have an interest in the 20-year-old, but will likely face competition from players like Real Madrid and Manchester City when the formidable striker chooses to take the next step in his career.

However, Liverpool legend Barnes believes his former club represents the most logical choice for Haaland and insists he has all the qualities necessary to thrive on Klopp’s already formidable forward.

“Erling Haaland would be a perfect fit for Liverpool if he joined the club,” Barnes told BonusCodeBets. ‘He is strong, aggressive, very good technically, in addition to being direct in his way of playing,

“I have no doubt that it would be the perfect complement to the way Liverpool play. His quality is there without a doubt, and having someone his age score as many goals as him has been impressive.

“ Dortmund is a team that scores a lot of goals in a similar way to Liverpool, so it is natural for him to take this step forward.

“However, if you look at the way Arsenal or Manchester City play their football, you wouldn’t think he would fit in, but Liverpool would be great for him.”
