PETALING JAYA: A drunk man used dishes to injure two policemen who were trying to placate him in a morning incident in Damansara Damai on Saturday (December 12).

Speaking about the incident, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said Corporal Eric Lamit and Patrik Fenandez Satalin from the Sri Damansara Police Station were sent to the home around 2 a.m., after receiving a call about a man in a fit of rage.

“The suspect was a resident of the house and he threw a glass plate at the two, wounding Corporal Elada. At the same time, he grabbed a knife and a hammer and tried to attack the police with them,” said ACP Nik Ezanee .

He added that while the suspect was arrested, both policemen suffered minor injuries to their elbows and had several bruises on their bodies.

“The suspect was found to have more than five prior records for drug and criminal offenses and has been in pretrial detention for four days,” he said.

Meanwhile, a man who was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence was arrested after he refused to cooperate with the police. A crime prevention team patrolling along the Federal Highway stopped the driver around 3.20 a.m. after he acted suspiciously.

“The police ordered him to sit on the passenger side of his car to be taken back to the Petaling Jaya Traffic Division on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. However, the suspect refused to cooperate and he started provoking the police using harsh language, “he said. .

The suspect was later arrested for obstructing a public servant in the performance of his duties and has been in preventive detention for four days.
