KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 217 people were arrested for disobeying the directives of the Movement Control Order (MCO) with 210 aggravated while seven were arrested, yesterday.
Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said that not wearing a mask was the highest number of crimes that were scoffed in 99 cases, followed by the lack of facilities to record customer details in 60 cases.
Another crime was the breach of physical distancing (31 cases), entertainment center activities (17) and others (10), he said in a statement related to MCO and Recovery MCO (RMCO) today.
In Op Benteng, he said that 67 foreigners were arrested as a result of the country’s strict border control in an integrated manner by the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), the Malaysian Maritime Control Agency ( MMEA) and the Malaysian Border. Security Agency (AKSEM).
Four land vehicles and eight boats were also seized in the operation, he said.
“The government will crack down on any party that tries to illegally enter the country’s borders and enforcement agencies will continue to tighten border control, especially in rat lanes,” he said.
Ismail Sabri said the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) had inspected 27 construction sites across the country and all were in compliance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Meanwhile, he said that from July 24 until yesterday, 85,383 people returned to their homes through international border entrances.
He said they were all housed in 77 hotels, as well as 19 Public Training Institutes (ILA) and private sector study institutes across the country.
“Of the total, 12,626 people are in mandatory quarantine, 542 people are sent to the hospital for treatment, while 72,215 people can return,” he said. – Called
