PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today launched the MalaysiaBiz portal, which serves as a one-stop center for facilitating online business registrations and license applications.

He said the portal developed by Malaysia’s Administrative Modernization and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) was aimed at creating a trade-friendly environment to foster competitiveness in the country and stimulate local economic growth.

“I urge entrepreneurs to take advantage of this opportunity. Register and apply for your business license through the MalaysiaBiz portal.

“Let us ensure the success of this initiative,” he said in his speech at the launch of the portal that was published on the MAMPU Facebook page.

The prime minister said the portal was developed when the government realized the importance of digital platforms in businesses and the contributions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to national revenues.

According to Muhyiddin, SMEs contributed 38.9% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019 compared to 38.3% in 2018 and are forecast to contribute 45% of GDP by 2025 and 50% by 2030 .

He said that with the trend of shopping online these days showing that SMEs have the potential to grow rapidly, therefore measures to generate growth for SMEs will continue to be prioritized.

The prime minister added that the recently presented Budget 2021 also showed that business continuity is one of the three main objectives of the budget.

He said that special attention was paid to SMEs through financial assistance, training, digital equipment and grants, including an allocation of RM1 billion to boost digitization activities until December 31, 2023.

Muhyiddin said RM 150 million was allocated for sales training and assistance programs as well as the supply of digital equipment to 100,000 local entrepreneurs as part of the micro and SME e-commerce campaign.

A total of RM4.6 billion was also allocated to empower bumiputera entrepreneurs and provide special microcredit financing through Tekun Nasional, Majlis Amanah Rakyat and AgroBank for the benefit of women entrepreneurs.

“These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to empowering SMEs and are consistent with the framework of initiatives in previous economic stimulus packages, such as the Penjana SME Financing Scheme and Prihatin Special Grants to ease the burden on merchants. , said.

MalaysiaBiz Portal (https://malaysiabiz.gov.my) is an online system that integrates 17 government agencies to allow merchants to obtain services through a gateway.

The portal is part of efforts to keep improving the delivery of public services to move towards digital government, the result of a collaboration between MAMPU, the Ministry of Business Development and Cooperatives, and SME Corporation Malaysia.
