MACC to Investigate New Developments in the Tengku Adnan Graft Case

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said it will investigate certain new developments that resulted in a discharge that does not amount to an acquittal of former federal territories minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pix) today about a RM1 million corruption case.

The commission said that Tengku Adnan’s defense team had presented the new developments in the case and a report that was filed against a witness in the case.

The MACC said it will begin investigations into the new developments and will resubmit the investigation documents to the Attorney General’s Office for evaluation.

The commission said that today’s High Court decision did not grant Tengku Adnan unconditional release and that he may face charges again if the Chambers decide to reinstate the case.

The MACC said the verdict in another unrelated corruption case against Tengku Adnan is still pending.

The High Court order was for a charge by Tengku Adnan in 2018 for allegedly receiving RM1 million from a businessman as a bribe related to the development of a plot of land in Jalan Semarak.
