COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 1,335 new cases of Covid-19 today with most of the new infections focused on Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Sabah.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, said in a statement that the Klang Valley states and territories accounted for more than a third of new transmissions.
They made up 515 of all new infections or 38.6 percent. Selangor contributed 337 cases, while Kuala Lumpur had 178.
Of that in Kuala Lumpur, 121 or two-thirds were detected through “other examinations,” which is a general term for exams in people with symptoms, preoperative exams, workplace exams, and pre-departure exams, among others.
Negeri Sembilan also surpassed Sabah in terms of new infections, registering 258 cases compared to Sabah’s 250 today.
The increase in Negeri Sembilan was contributed by a new group that now has 171 cases, 155 of which were recorded today.
A total of six states and territories registered more than 100 new cases.

The two new deaths occurred in Perak and Johor, bringing the death toll to 382. Details of the deaths are as follows:
Patient 42,847 (Death 381): 65-year-old Malaysian man. He died at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh. He had a history of high blood pressure and kidney disease.
Patient 67,154 (Death 382): 72-year-old Malaysian woman. He died at Enche ‘Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, Kluang. He had a history of high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, and obesity.

Sarawak, Putrajaya and Perlis did not register any new cases of Covid-19 today.
Noor Hisham also announced the end of three Covid-19 groups, namely the Palma group, the Merpati group, and the Makekar group.
However, it also revealed the emergence of three new groups, namely the Ceram group in Negeri Sembilan, the Pulau Berhala group in Sabah, and the Jalan Tampoi group in Johor.
This means that 187 out of 388 clusters are still active. However, only 49 of those groups registered new cases at noon and the largest contributors for today come from the Ceram group (155), the Penjara Jalan Harapan group (141), the Cergas group (92) and the Tembok group (92).
In elaborating on the new clusters, Noor Hisham said that Ceram cluster it involves the Seremban district in Negeri Sembilan.
The index case is patient 65,468 who tested positive for Covid-19 on November 30.
Following the discovery, a workplace assessment was conducted and an additional 170 people were found to be infected, bringing the total cases to date to 171.
As to Idol island cluster, involves the Sandakan district in Sabah.
Patient 52,089, who is the index case, tested positive on November 20 through a community assessment.
Since then, 208 people have been tested and there are now a total of 24 cases in this group.
Meanwhile, the Tampoi Road cluster it involves the Johor Bahru district in Johor.
The index case, patient 67,151, was discovered by screening for symptomatic individuals on December 1.
Since then, 212 people have been examined and the group has recorded 17 cases of Covid-19 to date.
