From the moment he arrived at the Catalan club, rumors spread about his interest in Liverpool’s Dutch dynamo.
Koeman reportedly made Barcelona’s signing Gini Wijnaldum a “priority”.
Given the history between the two clubs in the transfer market, the interest of the Spanish team has remained relatively respectful, as they would rather not cause any more ruptures after the way they handled the movements of Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suárez.

The impact has been so great that the club reportedly cannot afford to renew Lionel Messi’s contract.
Given the financial constraints in Barcelona, they may not be able to afford Gini Wijnaldum.
Liverpool can still hope to stay with the Dutchman.
The problem in question seems to be that we cannot afford to pay him what he wants in a long-term contract, given that he is now 30 years old.
However, the outlook in Barcelona may mean that they can’t afford it either.
